Not a WR? Yeah I am thinking the same thing but I would focus mainly on the defensive side of the ball. Never seems to be any type of pass rush coming from that side of the ball. From what I have seen from the upcoming rookies there is not one that stands out though on the defensive side of the ball so I would presume they would go offensive line.
They're actually set at the skill positions at QB, RB, and WR, hell even TE with Pettigrew. I really like their safety Louis Delmas, I think they should go D-Line or O-Line 1st round and 2nd rounds then pick up a solid LB or CB in the 3rd.
So with pick #2 locked for the Lions do they nail down the defensive line or go WR? Kidding on the Wr part because of no one being available but would it shock you?
Suh would be great and if some how he is there that is the pick, but I am not sure there is a franchise QB available worth taking at #1 by the Rams. McCoy seems to be the pick of choice in most mock drafts, but I think the draft has some good depth at DT and would prefer they look at Okung from Oklahoma St. I have not studied the depth at OT, but essentially they need the help on both the DL and OL, why they continue every year thinking Backus has played well is beyond me.
They will go OL, DL, or maybe DB, no way they take a WR here at #2. Now if they traded out of that spot and dealt Calvin, then that would change, and honestly I am curious to see if they look to deal Calvin with his original rookie deal being over in a couple of years.
The Detroit Lions have the luxury of drafting the other defensive tackle in the 2010 draft class. This pick arguably is the easiest selection in the entire draft, unless the Rams choose to deviate from expectations and select a franchise quarterback. Gerald McCoy has all the tools to be an elite defensive tackle at the next level. In fact, anything would be an upgrade for the team that gave up the most points in football last season. In addition, head coach Jim Schwartz knows the importance of dominate defensive line play all too well. Only recently did Schwartz manage a Tennessee Titans defense that was led by its superior defensive line play, specifically the play of Albert Haynesworth. Furthermore, McCoy could be an invaluable piece to a defense that would suddenly have some nice young pieces in place such as Ernie Sims, Louis Delmas, and obviously McCoy.
The Lions need a third quarterback and head coach Jim Schwartz won't rule out the idea of drafting one next month.
"You can take that first-round draft pick off, but maybe at some time in the draft a quarterback makes sense," Schwartz said Friday.
"That's happened a bunch of different times. You're sitting saying, 'Hey, look, this makes sense right here.' I don't think we've gone into (the off-season) saying, 'This is exactly how we're going to fill that.' What you do is you just weigh every option that comes up. When one makes sense, you pull the trigger on it and right now we're still weighing our options."
Detroit's plans may have changed since they acquired veteran quarterback Shaun Hill from the 49ers
Its kinda the time now where there is a lull between the combine and the draft. Baseball is starting up and the NCAA tourney take over more of the headlines, but I still think Suh is the pick if he is there and if a package comes to the Lions where they drop down in the first round and gain an additional pick this year and maybe a 1st next year, I say take it.
