Do you draft Tim Tebow because you think it will bring in an audience and possibly keep you in the same location or do you draft for a more pressing need?

Great question, not sure that Tebow will be able to kee them in Jax more than anyone else will be able to accomplish that feat.
Jags need a QB that can throw the ball better than Garrard does it and there are some issues they need to address on the DL too, they never got a replacement for Stroud. Wonder if Mount cody would be a fit?
Rule #1 in drafting you draft for need and not for media attention. If you win ballgames the fans will show up, case in point the Jags made the AFC championship with Mark effing Brunell and were selling out games.
Don't appease the fans with your draft picks or free agent signings (cough Daniel Snyder cough). You draft what you need, not what the fans want.
The Forum draft has Derrick Morgan dropping to the Jaguars. I really like the selection for them although I do not think he will slide that far would be a great addition.
A pass rusher is a huge need, they barely had double digit sacks as a team last year. With MJD, an emgering Mike Sims-Walker and some good OL talent, I think they go defense here. Derrick Harvey has been a bust and if he has anything at all left, a top level young talent to push him could help.
LOL mike! I see Derrick Morgan going here. There is no way that ownership falls into the fans' choice of Tim Tebow. Derrick Morgan just makes too much sense for the Jags.
I totally agree with the pick but from what I have been seeing he is moving way up the draft boards and could end up being a top 5 by draft day. I just hope that some 3-4 team does not take him and screw him over like Vernon Gholston got the hose.
The 2009 season was an odd one for Jacksonville. The Jags get my vote as the most under-achieving team of the year with their talent and a disappointing 7-9 record. They now head into 2010 with question marks at DE, LB and QB. The offense is young with MJD and youth at WR with Sims-Walker along with a youthful OL that should only get better. But the bad news is on defense. The teams sack leader in 09 was DT John Henderson with a pathetic 3 total sacks. A DT leading the team in sacks? The Defense needs to improve if Del Rio wants to be working in sunny Jacksonville come 2011.
So the #1 need in Jacksonville is a pass rusher. They have failed to accomplish this with past drafts (Derrick Harvey) but can not afford to stop trying. Drafting in the 10 spot, there is an great possibility that the top rated DE will still be on the board. Derrick Morgan could be that home-run that Jacksonville has been looking for. The DE class is weaker this season than in past years but Morgan should not be overlooked. Morgan has a great combination of size (6'4 275) and speed to go along with a well documented work ethic. His versatility also is a plus as he can play either DE position. He will not transition into a 3-4 Rush LB, although many 3-4 teams are currently looking at him. (due to his speed) He is heads and shoulders above this weak DE class, which is another reason Jacksonville should get Derrick at pick #10. It is slim pickings in later rounds at DE. And lastly, the biggest thing that jumps out at me when I watched Morgan play is that I believe he has tremendous upside. Others still on the board that Jacksonville could also be targeting: Jimmy Clausen and Earl Thomas but I believe Jags Owner Wayne Weaver when he says he wants Tim Tebow. He wants a winner at QB and even though Jacksonville is without a pick in Round 2 they could make a play for him via a trade up to get him. It will be interesting to see where the 2nd tier QB's fall this draft (Tebow, McCoy, Pike, Lefevour) because Garrard is NOT the answer.
